        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claims to have\ninvolved political parties before proposing a limit of two terms for the\ngeneral chairmen of political parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the process of this study, the KPK has also involved political\nparties to obtain views and objective facts from the perspective of\ncolleagues in political parties,\u201d said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to\nreporters at the KPK\u2019s Red and White Building on Thursday, 23 April\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Budi assured that the proposal for limiting the terms of general\nchairmen of political parties does not come from just one or two\nparties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThus, it does not only come from one or two perspectives, but in\nconducting the study, we have also included parties from political\nparties so they can provide points that are objectively experienced and\nfelt in the processes they go through in those political parties,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Budi continued that the results of the study on political governance,\nincluding the proposal to limit the terms of general chairmen of\npolitical parties, will be conveyed by the KPK to each political party\nin Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe KPK\u2019s responsibility is indeed to convey every study to the\nrelevant stakeholders,\u201d Budi concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has\nproposed that the terms of general chairmen of political parties be\nlimited to a maximum of two periods.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal was submitted by the KPK\u2019s Monitoring Directorate in its\nstudy on political party governance. In the study, the KPK stated that\nthere is no standard integrated cadre system.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK\u2019s Monitoring Directorate assessed that terms, especially for\ngeneral chairmen of political parties, must be limited to a maximum of\ntwo periods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo ensure the implementation of cadre development, regulation of the\nleadership limit for general chairmen of parties to a maximum of two\nperiods of tenure is needed,\u201d stated the KPK\u2019s Monitoring Directorate,\nquoted on Thursday, 23 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the KPK is also urging the Ministry of Home Affairs\n(Kemendagri) to prepare standardisation of integrated political party\ncadre reporting systems with banpol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUrging political parties to implement Constitutional Court Decision\nNumber 60\/PUU-XXII\/2024 on minimum thresholds for regional elections\nthrough candidate recruitment based on cadre development,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK also assessed that there needs to be an addition to the\nrevision of Article 29 of Law Number 2 of 2011 regarding political party\nmembership in Article 29 Paragraph (1) letter a, adding that political\nparty members consist of young, intermediate, and senior members.<\/p>",
