        "content": "<p>KPK needs support<\/p>\n<p>Regular protests complaining about the performance of the<br>\nCorruption Eradication Commission (KPK) show that there is still<br>\nsome confusion among the public about the processes and functions<br>\nof the KPK. Since the establishment of the Commission, I myself<br>\nhave been wondering whether it will be capable of doing its job.<\/p>\n<p>In Indonesia, it is said that corruption has become part of<br>\nthe culture. There are at least five institutions that should be<br>\nworking hand in hand to deal with the problem. Besides the KPK,<br>\nthere is also the executive (i.e., the President), the Ministry<br>\nof Home Affairs, the police and the courts. They should also be<br>\nresponsible for shouldering the burden of eradicating corruption<br>\nand ensuring the success of the KPK.<\/p>\n<p>People are fed up with empty slogans and statements, and a<br>\nlack of commitment among the powerholders and law enforcement<br>\nagencies. It is saddening to see this happening in a democracy,<br>\nwhere the politicians intervene in the law, and law enforcement<br>\ngets weaker and weaker as time goes on.<\/p>\n<p>DJUWARI, Sidoarjo, East Java<\/p>",
