        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the\nCorruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Asep Guntur Rahayu stated that\nthe process of changing the detention status of former Minister of\nReligious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was discussed through a\nleadership-level meeting.<\/p>\n<p>This was conveyed by Asep in response to various criticisms received\nby the anti-corruption agency following the change in Yaqut\u2019s detention\nstatus to house arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, regarding that request, it has of course undergone a meeting or\nexposition, so it\u2019s not a personal decision. It\u2019s an institutional\ndecision,\u201d Asep said at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Thursday\n(26\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Asep stated that he attended the leadership-level meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI attended that meeting; I was one of those present. Just wait,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asep also stated that the process of changing Yaqut\u2019s detention\nstatus was in accordance with procedures, specifically Article 108\nParagraphs 1 and 11 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) No.\u00a020 of\n2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Law No.\u00a020 of 2025 or the new KUHAP, it\u2019s regulated in Article\n108, with paragraphs 1 to 11, so that\u2019s the legal norm,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas\nwas returned to the KPK Detention Centre (Rutan) on Tuesday (24\/3\/2026),\nafter previously being under house arrest.<\/p>\n<p>One week earlier, on Thursday (19\/3\/2026), Yaqut was switched to\nhouse arrest upon a request from his family.<\/p>\n<p>The change in detention status was only announced by the KPK on\nSaturday (21\/3\/2026), coinciding with Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.<\/p>\n<p>Yaqut was then switched back to facility detention as of Monday\n(23\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Yaqut had previously been detained at the KPK rutan since 12 March\n2026 after being named a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged in the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 Hajj\nquota, with state losses amounting to Rp 622 billion.<\/p>",
