KPK lauds Solok for good governance<\/p>\n

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Taufiqurachman
\nRuki has named the Solok regency administration a model for the
\nimplementation of the principles of good governance, and urged
\nother administrations across the country to emulate them.<\/p>\n
Taufiequrachman, who was accompanied by KPK vice chairman,
\nSahrudin Rasul, deputy of the KPK's corruption crimes eradication
\ndivision, Waluyo, and inspector general of the Ministry of Home
\nAffairs, Sinyo Sarundayang, paid a visit on Thursday to Solok
\nregency in West Sumatra to observe its operation.<\/p>\n
According to Taufiequrachman, he had only heard about good
\ngovernance being practiced in one place, Solok, so he was looking
\nforward to witnessing it first hand. It is the KPK's hope to
\ncleanse all administrations of corruption, in addition to
\ninvestigating and handling criminal cases.<\/p>\n
\"When I arrived here, what I had heard was true, that Solok
\nRegent Gamawan Fauzi had indeed implemented principles of good
\ngovernance. This should also be established in other areas,\" he
\nasserted.<\/p>\n
Taufiequrachman added that corruption eradication had become a
\nnational program and several regions had initiated good
\ngovernance systems in an effort to prevent corruption.<\/p>\n
The drive by Gamawan to improve public services, which earned
\nhim the Bung Hatta Anti-Corruption Award earlier this year, had
\nsignificantly increased the regency's revenue and thus the
\nwelfare of civil servants, while the public had been provided
\nwith good services, said Taufiequrachman.<\/p>\n
\"Through the issuance of the transparency bylaw, funds
\nprovided for road construction will not 'stray' to other places,\"
\nhe said.<\/p>\n
The KPK head visited several government agencies in Solok and
\nobserved the public service operations in the only regency in the
\ncountry, which had endorsed the Integrity Pact.<\/p>\n
The Integrity Pact is an agreement signed by various local
\nagencies to implement principles of a government free from
\ncorruption, collusion and nepotism.<\/p>",
