        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states\nthat the investigation into the alleged hajj quota corruption case has\nmade progress, and details will be provided at a press conference on\nMonday, 30 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will announce it on Monday,\u201d said Deputy for Enforcement and\nExecution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the KPK\u2019s Red and White\nBuilding in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if this progress relates to the naming of new suspects,\nAsep stated that the KPK would provide information on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will announce it later. The point is, the progress is very good,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he mentioned the role of the public in the progress of the\nhajj quota case investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah for the public\u2019s support in handling this hajj quota\ncase; today (Thursday, 26 March), there has been very good progress,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK began investigating the alleged\ncorruption case related to Indonesia\u2019s hajj quota for 2023-2024.<\/p>\n<p>On 11 August 2025, the KPK announced an initial calculation of state\nlosses in the case exceeding Rp1 trillion and barred three individuals\nfrom travelling abroad for the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>Those barred were former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil\nQoumas, Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex as Yaqut\u2019s special staff, and\nFuad Hasan Masyhur as the owner of the Maktour hajj organising\nagency.<\/p>\n<p>On 9 January 2026, the KPK announced that two of the three barred\nindividuals had been named as suspects in the alleged hajj quota\ncorruption case, namely Yaqut and Gus Alex.<\/p>\n<p>However, Yaqut filed a pre-trial motion against his suspect\ndesignation at the South Jakarta District Court on 10 February 2026,\nregistered under case number 19\/Pid.Pra\/2026\/PN JKT.SEL.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 February 2026, the KPK announced the extension of the travel\nban only for Yaqut and Gus Alex, while Fuad\u2019s was not extended.<\/p>\n<p>On 27 February 2026, the KPK announced it had received an audit from\nthe Financial Audit Board (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia regarding\nstate financial losses due to the hajj quota case. Subsequently, on 4\nMarch 2026, the KPK announced that the state financial losses from the\ncase amounted to Rp622 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on 11 March 2026, the Panel of Judges at the South Jakarta\nDistrict Court rejected Yaqut\u2019s pre-trial motion.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 March 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK\u2019s Red and White\nBuilding State Detention House Branch.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, on 17 March 2026, the KPK detained Gus Alex at the\nKPK\u2019s Central Anti-Corruption Education Detention House Branch. While\nbeing escorted to the detention vehicle, he stated that there was no\norder or flow of funds in the hajj quota case to Yaqut.<\/p>\n<p>On the same date, Yaqut\u2019s family requested the KPK to allow the\nformer Minister of Religious Affairs to be under house arrest. The KPK\nthen granted the request, and Yaqut has been under house arrest since 19\nMarch 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 March 2026, the KPK announced it was processing the transfer of\nYaqut\u2019s detention from house arrest back to detention house. On 24 March\n2026, Yaqut officially became a detainee at the KPK Detention House.<\/p>",
