        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has\nexamined Danto Restyawan, a former Director of Road Transport Facilities\nat the Ministry of Transportation, as a witness in a suspected bribery\ncase involving railway construction and maintenance projects within the\nministry\u2019s Directorate General of Railways.<\/p>\n<p>KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the examination took place\nat the KPK\u2019s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta. Danto Restyawan was\nquestioned in his capacity as the Director of Railway Traffic and\nTransportation at the Directorate General of Railways for the 2019-2021\nperiod.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe witness has arrived. He arrived at the KPK at 09.40 WIB and\nimmediately went up to the examination room,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>The case came to light following a KPK sting operation at the Class I\nRailway Engineering Centre for the Central Java Region on 11 April 2023,\nan institution now known as the Class I Railway Engineering Centre\nSemarang.<\/p>\n<p>During the investigation, the KPK initially named 10 individuals as\nsuspects and detained them over alleged corruption in railway\nconstruction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. By\n20 January 2026, the anti-graft body had named and detained 21 suspects,\nincluding a member of the House of Representatives\u2019 Commission V for the\n2019-2024 period, Sudewo. Additionally, two companies have been named as\ncorporate suspects.<\/p>\n<p>The case encompasses the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double-track\nrailway project, railway construction in Makassar, four construction\nprojects and two supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, as well as\nlevel crossing improvement projects in Java and Sumatra.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK suspects that project winners were predetermined through\nmanipulation of the procurement process, from the administrative stage\nto the determination of tender winners.<\/p>",
