        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is evaluating its\ninternal systems after uncovering an alleged extortion case involving\nthe Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro, and a police officer seconded\nto the KPK as an administrative staff member.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evaluation being conducted, for instance, ensures that the\ndocument process from investigators to the leadership is strictly\nmaintained. Not everyone should be able to access it,\u201d said KPK Chairman\nSetyo Budiyanto at the KPK Juang Building, Jakarta, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Setyo, the evaluation is being implemented to prevent\nunauthorised parties or unrelated KPK employees from accessing documents\nrelated to ongoing corruption investigations handled by the\nanti-corruption agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf something goes wrong or if there is an irregularity, we can\nidentify it; the leadership can track where the bottleneck occurred,\nwhere the leak happened, and who performed the incorrect action,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he noted that the evaluation is intended to prevent\nissues that could negatively impact the morale and mental well-being of\nother KPK employees, ensuring that such incidents do not recur and\naffect the agency\u2019s overall performance.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday (28\/7), the KPK conducted its 18th sting operation (OTT)\nof 2026. Among the 21 individuals arrested during the operation was Anom\nWidiyantoro. The KPK subsequently brought 14 of the 21 detainees to\nJakarta for further interrogation, comprising five individuals arrested\nin Jakarta, eight from Pemalang, and one from Purworejo.<\/p>\n<p>On 30 July 2026, Anom Widiyantoro and three others appeared before\nthe public wearing the orange KPK vest after being named suspects.<\/p>\n<p>The case consists of two clusters: the first involves alleged\nextortion by Anom Widiyantoro against officials within the Pemalang\nRegency Government and private parties; the second involves alleged\nextortion by a police officer seconded to the KPK and his father against\nAnom Widiyantoro. In the first cluster, the suspects are Anom\nWidiyantoro and Mohamad Haris (alias Gus Haris), while the second\ncluster names Setya Budi Dias, the police officer seconded to the KPK,\nand his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, as suspects.<\/p>",
