The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially detained\nMarjani (MJN), the ADC or aide to former Riau Governor Abdul Wahid.\nMarjani was detained after being named a suspect in the extortion case\ninvolving Abdul Wahid.<\/p>\n
Observations at the scene on Monday (13\/4\/2026) showed Marjani\nwearing an orange vest after being examined by investigators as a\nsuspect. He was escorted by officers with his hands handcuffed.<\/p>\n
Before entering the detention vehicle, Marjani stated that he was\ninnocent in this case. He claimed that his name had merely been dragged\ninto it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is nothing; my name was just dragged in,\u201d said Marjani when\nasked what he wanted to convey.<\/p>\n
He explained the reason for previously suing the KPK in court after\nbeing named a suspect. He reiterated that his name had been dragged into\nthis extortion case.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I felt my name was dragged in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, the KPK named a new suspect in the extortion case\ninvolving former Riau Governor Abdul Wahid. The naming of Marjani as a\nsuspect was announced by the KPK on 9 March.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the KPK is summoning parties in their capacity as witnesses\nfor the new suspect, namely Mr MJN, who is the ADC or aide to the Riau\nGovernor,\u201d said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Monday\n(9\/3).<\/p>\n
Budi stated that the addition of this new suspect confirms that the\ninvestigation into the case is ongoing. However, details on when the\nsuspect was named, including the articles charged, would be provided\nlater.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe naming of this new suspect means it confirms that the\ninvestigation into the case will continue. We will still look at other\nnew evidence to then examine it more deeply, more broadly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsidering that catch-and-arrest operations often serve as entry\npoints for the KPK to see if similar practices also occur in other\nsectors in the Riau region,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The KPK has completed the investigation into Abdul Wahid in the\nalleged extortion case against his subordinates in the Riau Public Works\nService (PUPR) Unit. Abdul Wahid is set to go on trial soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, Monday (2\/3), the investigation into the alleged criminal\ncorruption act related to extortion in the Riau Provincial Government\nenvironment has been declared complete or P21, and handed over to the\nprosecution stage,\u201d said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on\nMonday (2\/3).<\/p>\n
This case originated from a catch-and-arrest operation (OTT) on Riau\nGovernor Abdul Wahid in early November 2025. The case implicating Abdul\nWahid relates to alleged demands for fees by Abdul Wahid from his\nsubordinates in the Riau PUPR Service Unit.<\/p>\n
