        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed the case\nentangling the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy\nKarim. The KPK explained that the offences occurred whilst Silmy served\nas Director General of Immigration.<\/p>\n<p>\"Yes, amongst those is the timeframe when Silmy was Director General\nof Immigration,\" KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists on\nThursday (4\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The KPK detected violations when Silmy was still the number one\nperson at the Directorate General of Immigration. \"Because indeed, the\nalleged flow of orders or the flow of receiving money was carried out\nwhen the person concerned served as Director General,\" Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK confirmed that the case involving Silmy relates to the\nprocessing of immigration documents. The KPK suspects extortion and\ngratification took place.<\/p>\n<p>\"In this case, the article charges used are Article 12E related to\nalleged corruption through extortion in the processing of immigration\ndocuments. It is also layered with Article 12B or other receipts or\ngratification,\" Budi stated.<\/p>\n<p>Eight individuals have been directly detained by the KPK. They are\nSilmy Karim; Acting Director General of Immigration for 2024-2025 Saffar\nMuhammad Godam (SMG); Director of Residence Permits and Immigration\nStatus at the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra (JS); Head\nof Sub-Directorate for Transfer of Residence Permit Status at the\nDirectorate of Residence Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu\nSetyaji (TBS); Head of Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Residence\nPermits Bagus Bramantyo (BGS); Head of the Central Jakarta Immigration\nOffice for 2024-2025 and Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI West\nJakarta Immigration Office for 2025-2026 Ronald Arman Abdullah (RAA);\nTeam Leader for ITAS Status Transfer Juniadi Sri Priambudi (JSP); and\nstaff of the Residence Permit Sub-Directorate Gusti Benardiansyah\n(GST).<\/p>\n<p>They have been officially named as suspects and are being detained\nfor the first 20 days at the KPK Red and White Building Branch Detention\nCentre. This suspect designation is based on the sufficiency of evidence\nheld by investigators.<\/p>\n<p>\"Based on the sufficiency of evidence, the KPK has also named eight\npeople as suspects out of a total of 18 people secured in the\ncaught-red-handed operation,\" Budi said.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 17 people were apprehended in the caught-red-handed\noperation targeting the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office,\nwhich began on Tuesday night (2\/6\/2026). Silmy Karim surrendered himself\nat the KPK\u2019s Red and White building in South Jakarta on Wednesday\nevening.<\/p>",
