        "content": "<p>Jakarta, KOMPAS.com \u2014 The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has\ndesignated Marjani, aide to non-active Riau Governor Abdul Wahid, as a\nnew suspect in an alleged extortion or receipt of gifts or promises case\nat Riau Provincial Government involving non-active Riau Governor Abdul\nWahid on Monday, 9 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe designation of this new suspect means confirming that the\ninvestigation of the case will continue,\u201d said KPK Spokesperson Budi\nPrasetyo at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Budi stated that investigators conducted witness examinations for\nsuspect Marjani today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to examine other evidence and then look at it more\ndeeply and more broadly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Abdul Wahid, the KPK designated two other suspects: Head of\nthe PUPR-PKPP Department Muhammad Arief Setiawan and Technical Expert to\nRiau Governor Dani M Nursalam.<\/p>\n<p>All three were arrested in a Sting Operation (OTT) in Riau on\nTuesday, 4 November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>KPK Vice Chairman Johanis Tanak stated that the total amount of money\nfrom extortion using a racketeering scheme deposited for Riau Governor\nAbdul Wahid from the Head of the PUPR PKPP Work Unit amounted to 4.05\nbillion Indonesian rupiah.<\/p>\n<p>The deposit was made following an agreement to provide a fee of 5\npercent, or 7 billion Indonesian rupiah, for Riau Governor Abdul Wahid\nfrom the head of the PUPR Work Unit in Riau.<\/p>\n<p>Due to their actions, the suspects are alleged to have violated\nprovisions in Articles 12e and\/or 12f and\/or 12B of Law Number 31 of\n1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Offences as amended by Law\nNumber 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999\nconcerning the Eradication of Corruption Offences read together with\nArticle 55 paragraph (1) number 1 of the Criminal Code.<\/p>",
