The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed its investigation into customs official Ahmad Dedi will proceed, as the case it is handling differs from the one for which the National Police have already named him a suspect. The KPK is currently developing a broader case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, having previously named several other officials as suspects. The commission has also issued two new investigation warrants, confirming one names the Head of the Kediri Customs Office as a suspect.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that its
investigation into alleged corruption within the Directorate General of
Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance will continue, despite
Senior Customs Functional Official Ahmad Dedi, also known as Dedi
Congor, having been named a suspect by the Indonesian National Police
(Polri).

“That (the investigation into Dedi Congor) can still proceed because
the subject matter is different from what is being handled by other law
enforcement agencies,” said Acting Director of Investigations at the
KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on
Tuesday.

Taufik stressed that the case being handled by the KPK is different
from the one being pursued by the Police’s Corruption Eradication
Corps.

He explained that the KPK had previously conducted a preliminary
inquiry into Dedi Congor.

“There was an inquiry carried out by the KPK’s investigative team
which was actually complete and ready to be elevated to a full
investigation, but then another law enforcement agency took up the same
subject matter,” he said.

According to him, the Police, as the other law enforcement agency,
subsequently named Dedi Congor a suspect.

For that reason, the KPK did not proceed with its inquiry into Dedi
Congor.

At present, however, the KPK is continuing its investigation into
Dedi Congor because the subject matter now under scrutiny differs from
the one being investigated by the Police.

“Of course, we have not yet named a suspect. However, we will
certainly name a suspect because an investigation order has already been
issued,” he said.

The KPK previously conducted a sting operation within Customs and
Excise and named six people as suspects.

They are Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs
and Excise for the 2024–January 2026 period who is currently serving as
Head of the Customs and Excise Regional Office for Western Sumatra; Head
of the Sub-Directorate of Intelligence, Enforcement and Investigation at
Customs and Excise, Sisprian Subiaksono; and Head of the Customs and
Excise Intelligence Section, Orlando Hamonangan.

On 26 February 2026, the KPK named a new suspect, namely Head of the
Excise Intelligence Section at the Directorate of Enforcement and
Investigation of Customs and Excise, Budiman Bayu Prasojo.

On 21 July 2026, the KPK announced the development of the case by
issuing two investigation orders.

The KPK named a suspect whose identity could not yet be disclosed to
the public in one of those investigation orders, while the other still
used a general investigation order and therefore no suspect had been
named.

A day later, the KPK confirmed John Field’s statement that the
suspect in question was Head of the Kediri Customs and Excise Office,
Gatot Heroe Hernanda.
",
