The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the\nKPK Red and White Building in Jakarta is in a safe and secure condition\nafter smoke appeared in the UPS battery room on the lower floor of the\nbuilding.<\/p>\n
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said in Jakarta on Saturday that\nfirefighters together with the KPK General Bureau team had completed\nhandling the incident at around 12.05 WIB.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt around 12.05 WIB, the handling was completed, after everything\nwas checked and confirmed to be in a safe and secure condition,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
According to Budi, firefighters arrived at the location at around\n11.32 WIB and immediately carried out handling at the source of the\nsmoke.<\/p>\n
The KPK expressed appreciation for the rapid response of firefighters\nin following up on the incident, including the National Disaster\nManagement Agency (BNPB) team who checked the location directly.<\/p>\n
Budi explained that the smoke appeared in the uninterruptible power\nsupply (UPS) battery room on the lower floor of the KPK Red and White\nBuilding.<\/p>\n
The smoke did not originate from a fire, but rather from the fire\nsuppression system that activated after detecting smoke from fumigation\nactivities in the building area.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently the condition is confirmed to be safe and secure,\u201d said\nBudi.<\/p>\n
Previously, the KPK confirmed that no fire occurred at the KPK Red\nand White Building after smoke appeared, which had briefly triggered\nreports of a fire at the anti-corruption agency\u2019s building.<\/p>\n
Budi explained that smoke from fumigation activities was detected by\nthe fire suppression system, which then responded automatically.<\/p>\n
