\u201cWe confirm that there was no fire at the KPK Merah Putih building.\nWe were conducting fogging in the building area, and the smoke from the\nfogging was detected by the fire-fighting equipment, which then\nresponded by automatically releasing smoke,\u201d Budi said on Saturday\n(29\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
He said the smoke from the fire-fighting equipment serves to\nextinguish any sparks on electronic devices. He said the smoke did not\ncome from a fire.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the smoke that appeared was not from a fire, but from the\nfire-fighting equipment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Budi said the incident occurred in the basement area, specifically in\nthe UPS battery room of the KPK Merah Putih building. The KPK is\ncurrently ensuring conditions are safe and smoke is being extracted from\nthe battery room.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently the General Bureau Team is vacuuming the smoke and\nchecking other areas to mitigate and prevent potential risks,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Detikcom monitoring at 12.35 WIB showed minimal activity at the KPK\nMerah Putih building. Only a few security officers were on guard. Fire\nengines were no longer visible at the location.<\/p>\n
The situation around the KPK building was also observed to be normal.\nActivities in the building area continued as usual.<\/p>\n
Firefighters were dispatched to the KPK Merah Putih building after\nreceiving a report of a fire. The fire was reported by telephone to\nfirefighters at 11.25 WIB.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crime scene address is the KPK Merah Putih building,\u201d said an\nofficer from the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Command\nCenter.<\/p>\n
Firefighters immediately went to the scene on Jalan Kuningan Persada\nRT 01 RW 06, Guntur, Setiabudi District, South Jakarta. Fire handling\nbegan at 11.34 WIB.<\/p>\n
The fire was extinguished and firefighters continued by extracting\nsmoke from the battery room in basement 1 of the KPK Merah Putih\nbuilding. The handling operation was declared complete at 12.05 WIB.<\/p>\n
A total of 3 fire engines and 14 firefighters were deployed to the\nscene. The chronology and cause of the fire are not yet known.
