The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has accepted the verdict\nof the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court against\nthe leadership of Blueray Cargo Group. With this, the bribery case\ninvolving officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise\nhas obtained permanent legal force. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo\nstated that the court sentenced Blueray Cargo Group leader John Field to\ntwo years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, subsidiary to 100 days\nof confinement. Based on trial facts, the judge found John Field proven\nto have committed the criminal acts as charged by the KPK Public\nProsecutor. The verdict was read on Friday, 10 July 2026.<\/p>\n
In addition to John Field, the judge also handed down guilty verdicts\nto two other defendants: Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of\nCustom Clearance at the Port for Blueray Cargo Group, and Andri, Head of\nthe Import Document Team at Blueray Cargo Group. The judge sentenced\nboth to 1.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp200 million each, subsidiary\nto 80 days of confinement. The defendants accepted the verdict.<\/p>\n
Budi assessed that the judge\u2019s decision is part of the law\nenforcement process that must be respected, reflecting the panel\u2019s\nindependence and objectivity in examining, adjudicating, and deciding\nthe case based on trial facts. For the KPK, the most important substance\nof the ruling is that the panel of judges declared the defendants\nlegally and convincingly proven to have committed corruption by giving\nbribes to state officials. This confirms that bribery, whether by the\ngiver or the receiver, is an unlawful act that damages the integrity of\nstate administration, creates a high-cost economy, and undermines the\nprinciples of fair business competition.<\/p>\n
The KPK also noted the judge\u2019s consideration that the defendants\u2019\nactions were inseparable from the role of unscrupulous Customs\nofficials. Budi said this consideration further strengthens the view\nthat corruption eradication must be carried out comprehensively against\nall parties involved in a corruption scheme. He added that thorough\nenforcement is part of the effort to break the chain of bribery\npractices while providing a deterrent effect, so there is no longer room\nfor abuse of authority or unlawful methods in public service activities.\nThe verdict also serves as a reminder that eradicating corruption\ndepends not only on taking action against state officials who abuse\ntheir authority, but also on the commitment of business actors to\nconduct their activities in compliance with the law and uphold\nintegrity.<\/p>\n
In the indictment, prosecutors stated that John Field and his two\nsubordinates bribed several officials at the Directorate General of\nCustoms and Excise with Rp61 billion in money and the provision of\nentertainment facilities and luxury goods worth Rp1.8 billion. The\nrecipients of the bribes included the Director of Enforcement and\nInvestigation, Rizal; the Sub-Director of Intelligence at the\nDirectorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Sisprian Subiaksono; and\nthe Head of Customs Intelligence Section I at the Directorate of\nEnforcement and Investigation, Orlando Hamonangan. The cluster of\nCustoms and Excise officials was prosecuted in a separate case file. Of\nthe total amount, Rizal allegedly received at least Rp14 billion,\nSisprian Rp7 billion, and Orlando around Rp4.05 billion. The remainder\nwas enjoyed by other parties who have not yet been processed legally,\nincluding the Head of the Import Enforcement Section I at the\nDirectorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Enov Puji Wijanarko. The\nfacilities provided to the Customs officials included entertainment\nfacilities worth Rp1.45 billion, a Tag Heuer watch worth Rp65 million\nfor Orlando, and a Mazda CX-5 car worth Rp330 million for Enov Puji\nWijanarko.
