The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has urged that the\nsuspected perpetrators of bullying against a six-year-old child in\nSenen, Central Jakarta, which resulted in the victim being electrocuted,\nbe processed according to the law. KPAI stressed that the perpetrators\nmust receive guidance and assistance, given their status as minors.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding the perpetrators who are also children, KPAI emphasises\nthat children in conflict with the law still have the right to receive\nguidance and assistance,\u201d said KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono to\nreporters on Friday (12\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Adi reminded that a child\u2019s status should not be used as a loophole\nto normalise acts of violence. He requested that the victim receive\nassistance and access to health services until full psychological\nrecovery is achieved.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe status of being a child must not be used as a reason to\nnormalise or ignore acts of violence committed. The state must be\npresent to protect the victim while ensuring that the perpetrator\nundergoes an appropriate guidance process so that they do not repeat\ntheir actions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
KPAI has coordinated with the Central Jakarta Metro Police regarding\nthe handling of the case. The commission urged the police to act\nprofessionally and adhere to the Child Protection Law and the Juvenile\nCriminal Justice System Law.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis serves as a reminder that bullying is not ordinary mischief.\nActions that cause a child to be injured, traumatised, or even\npotentially lose their life are forms of violence against children that\ncarry legal consequences and long-term psychological impacts,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, KPAI called on local governments and parents to\nsupervise children\u2019s activities in their environment. The commission\nreiterated that bullying is no longer a form of ordinary mischief.<\/p>\n
\u201cKPAI views this case as an indication that bullying behaviour among\nchildren is increasingly leading to high-risk actions that threaten\nlives. This phenomenon must serve as an alarm for families, schools,\ncommunities, and the government to strengthen child protection systems\nin residential areas and children\u2019s play spaces,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
Police are currently investigating the case of a six-year-old boy who\nwas allegedly bullied by two teenagers until he fell into a coma after\nbeing electrocuted. The case has now reached the investigation\nstage.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, the victim\u2019s family has filed a police report with us. As for\nthe action, we are currently in the investigation process,\u201d said Kompol\nRita Oktavia, Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the\nCentral Jakarta Metro Police, on Thursday (11\/6).<\/p>\n
Based on preliminary investigation results, the victim was playing\nwith friends before the incident. Several of the victim\u2019s friends then\nheld his hands and feet.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was lifted, and then his feet were inserted into a pole. Now, we\ncannot yet determine whether these children knew that the pole had an\nelectric current or not,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n
Police are currently investigating whether there was any intentional\nelement in the incident, specifically whether the perpetrators knew that\nthe pole was electrified.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still investigating that. Whether it was intentional or not.\nWhether they knew the pole had electricity, or they did not know the\npole had electricity.
