An incident involving the aide of Danrem 072\/Pamungkas Yogyakarta and\na marshal at the Mandiri Jogja Marathon (MJM) 2026 in the Prambanan\nTemple area on Sunday (21\/6\/2026) has come under public scrutiny after a\nvideo of the event went viral on social media. The incident occurred\nwhen the aide was not allowed to enter the race track because he was not\nwearing a BIB (body identification number) as required for\nparticipants.<\/p>\n
In the circulating video, the marshal asked the individual to leave\nthe track as he was not registered as a participant. Moments later, a\nparticipant wearing a BIB appeared and requested that the runner without\na bib be allowed back into the sterile area of the race. The request was\ndenied by the marshal, who deemed it a violation of the rules applicable\nto all participants. The participant, believed to be a high-ranking TNI\nofficer, Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono, was heard repeatedly\nstating that the runner without a BIB was his bodyguard. \u2018This is my\nbodyguard. Regarding the incident, the Head of Public Relations for Korem\n072\/Pamungkas, Major Inf Suwito, confirmed that the matter had been\nresolved peacefully with no further issues between the two parties. \u2018It\nwas just a misunderstanding on the ground, and it was settled amicably\nlast night, with both sides forgiving each other,\u2019 Suwito said when\ncontacted on Monday.<\/p>\n
A video from the Public Relations of Kodam IV\/Diponegoro was also\ncirculated, explaining that the marshal on duty did not recognise Danrem\n072\/Pamungkas Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono or his aide because\nboth were wearing official running jerseys like other participants. It\nwas stated that prior to the incident, the aide had run ahead to take\ndocumentation of the activity. However, because he was not wearing a BIB\nor any official attributes, and the marshal was also not wearing\nofficial identification, a misunderstanding occurred. The marshal\nstopped and removed the aide from the track area, believing he lacked\nthe required credentials from the organisers. Seeing the situation,\nDanrem 072\/Pamungkas explained to the marshal that he was an official\ninvited guest of the event and that the man who had been stopped was his\nbodyguard. After the explanation was given, the tense atmosphere\nimmediately dissipated.<\/p>\n
The organisers and marshal subsequently offered an apology.
