        "content": "<p>Head of the Impunity Monitoring Division of the Commission for\nMissing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), Jane Rosalina, has\nhighlighted the differences in information provided by the police and\nthe Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in handling the case of the\nalleged planned attempted murder of Andrie Yunus.<\/p>\n<p>In a press conference on the same day, the Greater Jakarta\nMetropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) released the initials of two\nattackers. However, the TNI Military Police Centre stated that it had\narrested four soldiers from the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS)\nsuspected of being involved in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis difference indicates uncertainty in the legal process and the\nexisting facts,\u201d Jane told Tempo on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In the press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Polda Metro Jaya\nstated that the initials of the two attackers were BHC and MAK. The\npolice also mentioned the possibility of more than four\nperpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the TNI Military Police Centre stated that the initials of\nthe four soldiers were NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. \u201cThe four suspects have\nbeen secured at the TNI Military Police Centre for further investigation\nto the prosecution level,\u201d said Commander of the TNI Military Police\nCentre Major General Yusri Nuryanto in a press conference at TNI\nHeadquarters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>With these differences, Jane said that Kontras and the civil society\ncoalition are urging verification by independent institutions such as\nthe National Human Rights Commission and the establishment of a Joint\nFact-Finding Team (TGPF).<\/p>\n<p>The aim is for the investigation or prosecution process to produce\nobjective and comprehensive facts, including targeting not only field\nactors but also intellectual actors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also urge the police to immediately summon and examine the BAIS\nChief, the TNI Commander, and the Defence Minister to ensure who else\nwas involved in the participation and assistance in the attack on\nAndrie,\u201d Jane said.<\/p>\n<p>Andrie Yunus was attacked by unknown persons while passing through\nJalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night, 12 March\n2025.<\/p>\n<p>The perpetrators attacked the human rights activist by splashing\ncorrosive chemical liquid on several parts of his body, from arms,\nchest, face, to eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Medical records state that Andrie suffered burns of more than 20\npercent due to the splashing carried out by the perpetrators. The civil\nsociety coalition suspects that the attack on Andrie did not happen just\nlike that, but is related to his activities.<\/p>",
