Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Impunity Monitoring Division of\nKontraS, Jane Rosalina, revealed that the condition of KontraS Deputy\nCoordinator Andrie Yunus is now improving and he is undergoing further\ntreatment in the high-level intensive care unit (HCU) at Cipto\nMangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are fortunate that Andrie\u2019s condition has improved and he has\nbeen handled very well by the doctors and hospital staff on duty,\u201d Jane\nsaid during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
In an official release from RSCM in Jakarta on Monday (16\/3), she\nsaid the hospital initially stated, based on initial calculations upon\narrival at the Emergency Installation (IGD), that Andrie was diagnosed\nwith burns covering around 24 percent due to an inflammatory reaction\nfrom a caustic liquid that hit his skin.<\/p>\n
However, after that, the doctor in charge of Andrie re-evaluated and\nrecorded the burns at around 20 percent on body areas, along with\nchemical trauma to the right eye with a severity degree of 3 (acute\nphase).<\/p>\n
She said that this condition also caused a decrease in vision and\ndamage to the cornea that occurred at the initial incident.<\/p>\n
But after Andrie underwent debridement of damaged tissue on the right\neye and amniotic membrane transplantation (TMA) to protect the eye\nsurface and support the healing process, Jane stated that her\ncolleague\u2019s condition is improving further.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, on the neck, chest, and right arm areas, she continued,\nthere are still quite deep wounds that cannot yet be grafted, so the\nsurgical procedure may need to be done more than once.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor that, we ask for prayers and solidarity from all friends for the\nrecovery and rehabilitation of our colleague. Further updates and\nofficial statements will of course be conveyed through RSCM\u2019s Public\nRelations officially via press release,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Currently, she revealed that Andrie is being treated in the HCU at\nRSCM to receive monitoring and further comprehensive care by a\nmultidisciplinary medical team consisting of eye specialists, plastic\nsurgeons, reconstructive plastic surgeons, and emergency medical\nteam.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, she explained that therapy for Andrie has already been\nextensively provided by the doctors and medical staff on duty.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Jane, representing Andrie, his legal counsel, and\nfamily, prohibited visits from anyone for the sake of Andrie\u2019s security\nand right to receive higher quality health services as well as\nprotection in accordance with patient rights guaranteed by law.<\/p>\n
Previously, the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) detained four TNI\npersonnel suspected of involvement in the acid splashing case against\nAndrie.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, now these four suspects have been secured at Puspom TNI for\nfurther investigation to the prosecution level,\u201d said TNI Puspom\nCommander Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The four individuals detained by Puspom TNI are TNI members serving\nat the Headquarters Detachment of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency\n(Denma BAIS) TNI. The four perpetrators are initialled NDP, SL, BWH, and\nES.<\/p>\n
