Kompol I Made Yogi Purusa Utama has appealed the 14-year prison\nsentence handed down by the Mataram District Court, rejecting findings\nthat he murdered his former subordinate, Brigadir Muhammad Nurhadi, at\nGili Trawangan, Lombok Utara, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe filed the appeal today. We are now preparing our appellate\nbrief,\u201d Yogi\u2019s legal counsel Hijrat Prayitno told detikBali on Monday\n(16 March 2026).<\/p>\n
Prayitno stated that the appeal was pursued after careful\nconsideration, particularly because the court\u2019s decision was not\ngrounded in trial evidence. \u201cThe decision did not use trial facts as the\nbasis for ruling on this case. Therefore, the sentence imposed on Mr\nYogi was entirely without evidentiary foundation in the trial\nproceedings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prayitno maintains that Yogi is innocent and claims his client has\nnot been proven to have violated Article 458(1) of Law Number 1 of 2023\nconcerning the Criminal Code and Article 221(1) of the Criminal Code in\nconjunction with Article 20(a) or (c) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning\nthe Criminal Code.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo this day, as his legal counsel, we are confident and optimistic\nthat Mr Yogi has not been proven to have committed the offences alleged\nby the public prosecutor,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Mataram District Court\u2019s public information office confirmed that\nboth Yogi and the prosecution have filed appeals. \u201cThe prosecution is\nalso appealing. So both the legal adviser and the prosecution are\nappealing,\u201d said Kelik Trimargo, the court\u2019s spokesman.<\/p>\n
On 9 March 2026, the panel of judges at the Mataram District Court,\nchaired by Lalu Moh Sandi Iramaya, sentenced Yogi to 14 years\nimprisonment. The court found Yogi guilty of murdering Brigadir Nurhadi\nand obstructing the investigation into the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe court hereby declares the defendant proven guilty beyond\nreasonable doubt of the crime of murder and obstruction of justice or\nconcealment of evidence as charged by the public prosecutor,\u201d the judge\nannounced when reading the verdict at the Mataram District Court.<\/p>\n
Yogi was also ordered to pay restitution of 385 million rupiah to\nBrigadir Nurhadi\u2019s heirs. Should he fail to pay within 30 days, his\nassets may be seized and auctioned to satisfy the obligation. \u201cIf not\npaid, the defendant shall be subject to an additional two-year prison\nsentence,\u201d the judge stated.<\/p>\n
Yogi was tried jointly with Ipda I Gde Aris Chandra Widianto, who\nreceived an eight-year prison sentence and must also pay 385 million\nrupiah in restitution to Nurhadi\u2019s heirs. Failure to pay would result in\na two-year substitute prison sentence.<\/p>\n
Brigadir Nurhadi died at Villa Tekek The Beach House Resort on Gili\nTrawangan on 16 April 2025. He had been drinking alcohol and consuming\nnarcotics with Kompol Yogi, Ipda Aris, and two women identified as Misri\nPuspita Sari and Meylani Putri. The two women were allegedly hired by\nKompol Yogi and Ipda Aris.
