        "content": "<p>Komodo population on increase<\/p>\n<p>KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The population of Indonesia&apos;s<br>\nprotected Komodo dragons has risen to between 325 to 350, the<br>\nlatest surveys say.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Komodo National Park, Bambang Hartono, said<br>\nhis office had found 183 Komodo dragons in the park in Manggarai<br>\nregency and 172 on Rinca Island. The surveys were done last year.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There should be more Komodo dragons here. We have never<br>\nexplored the population of the dragons on other parts of these<br>\nislands,&quot; Bambang said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the park&apos;s management planned to carry out another<br>\nsurvey in Lamaole village, a hilly East Flores area, because a<br>\nlocal said he had caught a Komodo dragon.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Herman Musakabe earlier ordered the provincial<br>\nforestry office to ban anybody entering Komodo dragon<br>\nsanctuaries, fearing that they would endanger the habitat.
