The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has concluded that the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), was meticulously planned and coordinated among the perpetrators. This determination stems from interviews with eight related parties, CCTV footage analysis, and police cell dump data, revealing at least 14 interconnected individuals near the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation office and suspicious activities by unidentified persons. Komnas HAM has summoned the TNI Commander for information on four suspects from the TNI's Strategic Intelligence Agency, though the request remains unfulfilled, underscoring potential institutional involvement in the assault on a prominent human rights advocate.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas
HAM) has concluded that the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy
Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of
Violence (KontraS), was planned and coordinated. This finding is based
on Komnas HAM’s investigation, which included interviews with eight
related parties, examination of CCTV recordings, and analysis of police
cell dump data. “The pattern of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus
indicates planning and coordinated execution among the perpetrators,”
stated Komnas HAM Chair Anies Hidayah during a press conference at the
Komnas HAM office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (27/4/2026).
The eight parties include witness statements from KontraS on 19 March
2026, requests for information from RSCM on 26 March 2026, requests for
information from Polda Metro Jaya on 30 March 2026, and coordination
with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), the Advocacy Team
for Democracy (TAUD), and KontraS on 31 March 2026. Additionally, Komnas
HAM requested information from TNI Headquarters in April 2026, from
KontraS’s investigation team in April 2026, and from military
intelligence experts, forensic toxicology experts, and forensic
psychology experts on 9 April 2026. On the other hand, according to
Anies Hidayah, Komnas HAM has also issued a summons to the TNI Commander
to request information from four acid attack suspects who are members of
the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). However, as of Monday,
this summons has not been fulfilled by the TNI side. Meanwhile, Komnas
HAM Commissioner Saurlin Siagian explained the attack on Andrie Yunus,
which is said to have been planned and coordinated. Saurlin stated that,
based on cluster analysis of CCTV recordings, at least 14 people were
interconnected around the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office
in Menteng before the acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred in Salemba.
Additionally, around five other unidentified persons (OTK) were
identified at YLBHI engaging in suspicious activities. Saurlin also
revealed suspicions of involvement by at least three other perpetrators
who were not present at the scene during the attack. “It is suspected
that the perpetrators used false identities to register their mobile
phone numbers,” Saurlin disclosed. These numbers were known to have been
activated just one to two days before the incident, in the range of
10-11 March 2026.
",
