        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) will limit\nsocial media access for children under 16 from 28 March 2026. The policy\nis part of the government\u2019s effort to strengthen protection for children\nin the digital space. The regulation is set out in Ministerial\nRegulation No.\u00a09 of 2026 by the Ministry of Communications and Digital,\nderived from Government Regulation (PP) No.\u00a017 of 2025 on the Governance\nof the Administration of Electronic Systems in Child Protection, also\nknown as PP Tunas. Under the policy, access for accounts of children\nunder 16 on high-risk digital platforms will be delayed, starting with\nsocial media and networking services. With this policy, Indonesia\nbecomes the first non-Western country to apply age-based access delays\nto high-risk digital platforms. The government believes children today\nface a range of threats in an increasingly complex digital world.\nExposure to harmful content and risks of technology addiction are major\nconcerns. \u201cThe government is here so that parents no longer have to\nfight the algorithm giants alone,\u201d Meutya said. Furthermore, addiction\nto social media is also an increasingly prevalent issue among children\nand adolescents. This condition is seen as capable of affecting mental\nand social development, as well as the health of children.
