Knorr upbeat on RI's market<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): American food manufacturer PT Knorr Indonesia
\nremains confident about Indonesia's big consumer market despite
\nthe crisis.<\/p>\n
The company's president, Peter N.M. Smith, said yesterday the
\nmarket for consumer products remained strong, especially products
\nfor middle-class and upper-class Indonesians.<\/p>\n
Knorr Indonesia, set up in 1992, produces and distributes
\nabout 50 products under four different brands in Indonesia,
\nincluding Knorr bouillon cubes, soups and seasonings, Best Food
\nmayonnaise and pourable dressings, Skippy peanut butter and
\nMazola corn oil.<\/p>\n
"Basically, we target our products for the middle and upper-
\nclass Indonesians," he said.<\/p>\n
He said Knorr Indonesia is a joint venture between Best Foods,
\nan American multinational consumer food company with 95 percent
\nshare ownership, and an Indonesian person, who has the remaining
\n5 percent.<\/p>\n
Peter said that the company has a manufacturing plant in
\nPurwakarta to produce bouillon cubes, packet soups, instant rice
\nporridge in cups, seasoning powder, seasoned flours, mayonnaise
\nand pourable dressings under the Knorr and Best Foods brands.
