        "content": "<p>If regional heads do not carry out their obligations in accordance\nwith the law, sanctions will be imposed, as Indonesia is a state of law\nwhere everyone must adhere to the rules.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH) is\npreparing sanctions for regions that ignore waste management and fail to\nregulate the practice of dumping waste in open areas without processing,\nor open dumping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe central government has the authority to impose sanctions. Since\n2018, norms and targets have been established that must be adhered to\nwithin a certain period. If regional heads do not carry out their\nobligations in accordance with the law, sanctions will be imposed,\nbecause Indonesia is a state of law and everyone must submit to the\nrules,\u201d said Minister of Environment and Forestry Hanif Faisol Nurofiq\nin Semper Timur Sub-District, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Environment and Forestry emphasised that the central\ngovernment has issued instructions for local governments (pemda) not to\nsend organic waste to the Final Processing Site (TPA) and that it must\nbe processed or resolved in their respective districts\/cities.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, he continued, a change in waste management is needed\nthrough two main transformations, namely technological transformation\nand managerial transformation. KLH continues to encourage every region\nto immediately prepare concrete and systematic steps in waste\nhandling.<\/p>\n<p>He understands that waste handling is not simple, considering that\nthe large capacity for processing organic waste requires adequate\ninfrastructure, while existing facilities such as the Reduce, Reuse, and\nRecycle Waste Processing Site (TPS3R) are deemed insufficient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, more detailed and data-based planning is needed. Every\nregion is asked to have clear targets, concrete actions, and achievement\nindicators. Without targets, policy direction will not be clear,\u201d stated\nMinister of Environment and Forestry Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.<\/p>",
