KL worried over isles in RI's map<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia was investigating reports that
\nIndonesia had included two islands claimed by both countries in
\nits latest national map, local reports said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"As far as we are concerned, the two islands belong to us,\"
\nForeign Minister Abdullah Badawi was quoted as saying yesterday
\nof the Sipadan and Ligitan islands, jointly claimed by Malaysia
\nand Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Abdullah said he had directed the Malaysian high commission
\n(embassy) in Jakarta to confirm if the islands were featured in
\nthe map after newspapers here reported Thursday that the
\nIndonesian survey and mapping coordinating unit had included
\nthem.<\/p>\n
Abdullah said Malaysia's claim on the islands remained
\nunchanged if the reports were true.<\/p>\n
\"The islands have been in the Malaysian map for decades. And
\nMalaysia has continuously emphasized that they belong to us,\"
\nAbdullah said.<\/p>\n
The Sipadan and Ligitan islands are located near Malaysia's
\neastern Sabah state on Borneo island.<\/p>",
