        "content": "<p>KL tightens labor terms<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Foreigners wishing to work in Malaysia<br>\nwill have to undergo medical tests in their home countries by<br>\nKuala Lumpur-sanctioned doctors, a report said yesterday after a<br>\nstudy showed many alien workers carried contagious diseases.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We want to take stringent measures to ensure that foreigners<br>\nworking here are healthy, as we do not want them to spread any<br>\ncommunicable diseases to our people,&quot; Health Minister Lee Kim Sai<br>\nwas quoted as saying by the New Straits Times daily.<\/p>\n<p>The new health ruling for foreign workers was decided on<br>\nThursday by a cabinet panel on foreign labor headed by deputy<br>\npremier Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p>The panel sought detailed reports from the relevant<br>\nauthorities on the implication of the estimated one million<br>\nforeign workers on Malaysia&apos;s security and the health and social<br>\nsectors.<\/p>\n<p>Lee said prospective foreign workers would have to undergo X-<br>\nray, blood and urine tests and should be free of tuberculosis,<br>\nAIDS, malaria and leprosy.<\/p>",
