        "content": "<p>KL, S'pore declare truce in dredging row<\/p>\n<p>MALAYSIA: Malaysia and Singapore have agreed a truce in their<br>\nlegal battle over land reclamation in the thin strip of sea that<br>\nseparates them, in another small step in efforts to improve<br>\noften-strained relations.<\/p>\n<p>The two countries reached a \"mutually acceptable\" in-principle<br>\nagreement to settle their 18-month dispute over Singapore's land-<br>\nreclamation works in the Johor Strait, according to a joint<br>\ngovernment statement on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Political experts said the deal was an early sign of warming<br>\nties between the two ASEAN members, which would help set the<br>\nfoundation for resolving larger disputes between them.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore's former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong had said that<br>\nthe countries should seek to resolve their many disputes by<br>\ndealing with the less thorny issues first, or plucking the \"low-<br>\nhanging fruits\".<\/p>\n<p>Bilateral relations have been complicated since Singapore and<br>\nMalaysia formally separated in 1965.
