KL seeks RI telecom jobs<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): National telecom firm Telekom Malaysia, on
\nthe brink of losing its monopoly at home, has joined an
\nIndonesian-led consortium with American interest to bid for
\nprojects in Indonesia, officials said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"The consortium agreement will provide Telekom with the
\nopportunity to expand its services and participate in the growing
\ntelecommunications industry in Indonesia,\" a Telekom official
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
An agreement to set up the consortium was signed on June 29
\namong Indonesian firms PT Intidaya Sistelindomitra (PTIS), Abdul
\nLatief Corporation (ALC) and Kopthindo, American International
\nGroup Inc. (AIG) and Telekom, Telekom officials said.<\/p>\n
The consortium, known as PT Daya Mitra Malindo, is proposed to
\nbe capitalized at US$10 million comprising 10 million shares of
\n$1 each.<\/p>\n
\"The equity structure among the parties to the agreement have
\nbeen agreed upon in principle but the initial capital to be paid
\nup has not been determined at this juncture,\" Telekom said in a
\nstatement to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n
PTIS, which currently provides voice-mail services, would lead
\nthe consortium, the statement said.<\/p>",
