KL protests trip by Anwar's wife<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysia protested on Monday a planned
\nvisit by the wife of jailed former finance minister Anwar Ibrahim
\nto the Philippines and warned Manila against interfering in
\nMalaysian affairs.<\/p>\n
Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said his ministry would
\nsummon the Philippine ambassador in Kuala Lumpur to object to
\nAzizah Ismail's planned visit to Manila this week.<\/p>\n
\"I think this is a very serious matter and therefore I have
\nasked my officials to call the Philippine ambassador to state our
\nunease toward Wan Azizah's visit as president of a domestic
\nparty,\" the official Bernama news agency quoted Syed as saying.<\/p>\n
Azizah, who recently formed a multiethnic opposition party,
\nwill visit Manila on Wednesday as a guest of the Rotary Club.<\/p>\n
An aide to Azizah said she was expected to meet former
\nPhilippine president Corazon Aquino, who spearheaded opposition
\nto dictator Ferdinand Marcos after the assassination of her
\nhusband Benigno.<\/p>",
