        "content": "<p>KL power firm chairman<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad<br>\nsaid yesterday power company Tenaga Nasional chief Ani Arope, who<br>\nhas come under severe criticism for last week&apos;s mass blackout,<br>\nwould be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>Mahathir said Ani, who is Tenaga&apos;s executive chairman, would<br>\nbe replaced by Ahmad Tajuddin, director-general of the Standards<br>\nand Industrial Research Institute Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Ani had completed his contract last month. We searched (for a<br>\nsuccessor) and found Ahmad suitable to take over as executive<br>\nchairman,&quot; Mahathir was quoted as saying by Bernama in Langkawi<br>\nisland, off northern Kedah state.<\/p>\n<p>Ani&apos;s contract had expired last month but was extended by<br>\nanother month.<\/p>\n<p>Mahathir also said changes would be carried out to Tenaga&apos;s<br>\ntop-level management once Ani was replaced. The Malaysian American<br>\nElectronics Industry, an alliance grouping 20 firms, estimated<br>\n29.4 million ringgit in losses.<\/p>",
