        "content": "<p>KL opposition party mulls alliance exit<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysia's main Chinese-based<br>\nopposition party said on Thursday it would decide next month<br>\nwhether to leave the nation's opposition front after a row with<br>\nthe alliance's Islamic party.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic Action Party (DAP), Malaysia's main opposition<br>\nuntil a resurgence by the Parti Islam Malaysia (PAS) two years<br>\nago, will consider quitting the PAS-led Barisan Alternatif front<br>\nat a party meeting in August, vice chairman Lim Guan Eng said.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our members are very unhappy with PAS for breaking assurances<br>\nthat it won't try to form an Islamic state in multireligious,<br>\nmultiracial and multicultural Malaysia,\" Lim said.<\/p>\n<p>DAP and PAS joined forces in the 1999 general elections within<br>\nthe four-member Barisan Alternatif, set up to woo majority Malays<br>\nto the opposition following the ouster from government of former<br>\ndeputy premier Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>",
