        "content": "<p>KL opposition MP appeals conviction<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): A Malaysian opposition lawmaker<br>\nappealed against his conviction for sedition yesterday and said<br>\nhe would sue if an election was held prematurely for the<br>\nparliamentary seat he stands to lose.<\/p>\n<p>Lim Guan Eng, deputy secretary-general of the Democratic<br>\nAction Party, said he was the rightful member of parliament (MP)<br>\nfor the Kota Melaka district in southwestern Malacca state until<br>\nthe court ruled on his appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\"I wish to warn ... that I will sue the Election Commission<br>\nshould they take any steps to declare the Kota Melaka<br>\nparliamentary seat vacant and hold a by-election immediately,\" he<br>\nsaid in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>He was reacting to press reports quoting Election Commission<br>\nchairman Harun Din on Wednesday as saying that \"preparations\"<br>\nwere being made to hold a contest for the seat.<\/p>\n<p>Lim was convicted on April 28 for publishing a pamphlet<br>\nentitled Ceramah Kisah Benar (The True Story), which prosecutors<br>\nsaid contained false information on a sex scandal involving a<br>\nschoolgirl and former chief minister of Malacca.<\/p>",
