        "content": "<p>KL brokers to enter RI<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Nine brokerage companies from Malaysia are<br>\nseeking approval from the Capital Market Supervisory Agency<br>\n(Bapepam) to enter the Indonesian capital market.<\/p>\n<p>Agus Muhammad, the head of Bapepam's transaction department,<br>\nsaid that the capital market watchdog is still processing<br>\nlicenses for the nine Malaysian brokerage firms.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the nine companies of the neighboring country are<br>\nT.A. Berhard, Lancar Baiduri Sdn Berhard, Omega Holding, Pileo<br>\nAllied Berhard, Widervale Assets Limited, Apec Equity Holding<br>\nBerhard, MBF Berhard, Hong Liong Berhard and Pengkaleng Holding<br>\nBerhard.<\/p>\n<p>The nine firms will operate in partnership with local<br>\nbrokerage companies. T.A. Berhard, for example, will form a joint<br>\nventure with PT Arya Prada, according to Bisnis Indonesia<br>\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>Lancar Biaduri will forge a partnership with PT Buraksa<br>\nPerkasa, Omega with PT Artha Adyanugraha, Pileo Allied with PT<br>\nDwi Oance Rejeki, Widervale with PT Kestrel Indonesia, Apec<br>\nEquity with PT Interindo Dana Praja, MBF with PT Agung<br>\nSecurities, Hong Liong with PT Intisekuriti Investama and<br>\nPengkaleng Holding with PT Buanamas Investindo.<\/p>\n<p>Agus said that a business partnership with foreign companies<br>\nis an essential breakthrough to strengthen the capital structure<br>\nof local brokerage companies.<\/p>\n<p>More than 170 securities companies are operating as brokers or<br>\nboth as brokers and underwriters here at present, 30 of which are<br>\njoint ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Big foreign players in the local capital market include<br>\nMerrill Lynch, Salomon Brothers, HG Asia, Morgan Grenfell,<br>\nSchroders and Nomura.
