        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is rigorously\noverseeing the commitment to repair the Wastewater Treatment System\n(IPAL) at a seaweed processing company in Situbondo, East Java, which is\nsuspected of polluting the local marine environment.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Fisheries Resource Supervision at the KKP\u2019s Directorate\nGeneral of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision, Sahono Budianto,\nstated that he continues to monitor the repairs to the Wastewater\nTreatment System (IPAL) by PT Fuyuan Biologi Technology (PT FBT) in\nBanyuglugur Village\/Subdistrict, Situbondo, which went viral on social\nmedia several weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ensuring that repairs are carried out in accordance with the\nbusiness operator\u2019s commitment to prevent potential pollution of fish\nresources and the ecosystem following the improvement of the company\u2019s\nIPAL,\u201d he said in a written statement received in Situbondo on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sahono, the seaweed processing company has routinely\nsubmitted a daily progress report during the 14-day commitment period to\nrepair the IPAL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next stage is to conduct water quality tests to ensure the\nquality standards of the seaweed processing industry\u2019s wastewater comply\nwith the provisions stipulated in the Minister of Environment Regulation\nNumber 5 of 2014,\u201d said Sahono.<\/p>\n<p>On 26 July 2026, the KKP conducted an unannounced inspection of PT\nFBT and gave the company time to improve its wastewater management after\nreceiving public complaints regarding the alleged environmental\npollution.<\/p>",
