        "content": "<p>South Korea\u2019s overseas infrastructure and urban development\ncorporation, KIND, is exploring the involvement of Korean companies in\nwaste management and waste-to-energy (WtE) projects in Indonesia. This\nwas conveyed by Park Sang Jin, Team Leader of KIND\u2019s International\nCooperation Team, during the \u2018Indonesian Next-Generation Journalist\nNetwork\u2019 programme organised by the Korea Foundation and the Foreign\nPolicy Community of Indonesia in Seoul on Wednesday (10\/6). He stated\nthat the effort follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding\n(MoU) between KIND and Danantara Indonesia in April 2026. \u2018We are\ncurrently exploring the participation of Korean companies engaged in\nwaste management and waste-to-energy to take part in this partnership\nbetween Indonesia and Korea,\u2019 he said. Park explained that during the\nMoU signing, both parties introduced various investment projects from\ntheir respective countries through a co-investment scheme. According to\nhim, KIND and Danantara also agreed to build a strategic and\ncomprehensive partnership in the field of waste-to-energy processing.\n\u2018We are currently planning to establish a sort of cooperation channel\nwith our partners,\u2019 he stated. KIND assessed that waste management and\nWtE projects require adequate regulatory and governance support. The\nagency, which operates under South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Land,\nInfrastructure and Transport, believes that without adequate waste\nmanagement regulations, companies will find it difficult to run such\nbusinesses sustainably in Indonesia. Therefore, KIND suggested that both\nparties move in parallel to prepare the project and its regulatory\nframework, while also providing certainty regarding profitability\nprospects for business actors. KIND and Danantara announced the signing\nof the MoU on 1 April 2026, coinciding with the state visit of\nIndonesian President Prabowo Subianto to South Korea. The cooperation\naims to enhance collaboration on infrastructure and urban development\nprojects in Indonesia and the surrounding region.<\/p>",
