Killing two boars with one stone<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An official in Jambi, the latest province eager
\nto prove itself as one of Indonesia's latest tourist
\ndestinations, has come up with a novel plan to attract visitors
\nand kill boars, a major pest to local farmers, at the same time:
\nboar hunting.<\/p>\n
Sarolangun Bangko Regency Chief Zainul Imron said boars are
\nnow farmers' number one enemy because they constantly threaten
\ntheir crops, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
Zainul's plan, however, is restricted to turning the
\ntraditional boar hunting season into a tourist attraction. He did
\nnot say whether visitors would be allowed to take part in the
\nhunting.<\/p>\n
\"If we could turn boar hunting into regular events, it would
\nhave the potential to draw tourists, and at the same time help
\nget rid of the pests,\" he was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n
He appealed to people in Jambi who enjoy boar hunting to
\nmaintain their pastime and help farmers raise their crop
\nproduction.<\/p>\n
Other provinces in Sumatra, including Lampung and West
\nSumatra, regularly invite members of the Indonesian Sharpshooters
\nAssociation in Jakarta and elsewhere to practice their skills by
