Surabaya (ANTARA) \u2014 East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa\nexpressed her gratitude to the King of Saudi Arabia for granting\npermission for Indonesia\u2019s Kampung Haji (Hajj Village) in Makkah during\na joint iftar event with the Saudi Arabian Embassy\u2019s Religious Attach\u00e9\nat the Al-Akbar National Mosque in Surabaya.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe convey our thanks to His Majesty King Salman and Crown Prince\nMohammed bin Salman, who have granted Indonesia permission to have a\ndedicated area in Makkah, near Masjidil Haram, as Kampung Haji\nIndonesia,\u201d she said in a statement in Surabaya on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The event was held together with the Religious Attach\u00e9 of the Saudi\nArabian Embassy to Indonesia, Sheikh Ahmad bin Izza Al Hazimy, and\nincluded the presentation of dates and Qurans from the Custodian of the\nTwo Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to Quran memorisers\nfrom the East Java community.<\/p>\n
The event also broke three records with the Indonesian World Records\nMuseum (MURI), comprising 12,000 servings of date juice, 20,741 servings\nof nasi kebuli, and the simultaneous recitation of the 99 Asmaul Husna\nby 18,000 participants.<\/p>\n
Khofifah also expressed her appreciation for the decision to allow\nIndonesian hajj pilgrim catering to be prepared by Indonesian catering\nbusinesses, describing it as a highly meaningful gesture of trust.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also express our appreciation that three East Java catering\nbusinesses have been given the opportunity to supply catering logistics\nfor hajj pilgrims in 2026,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
According to Khofifah, the policy not only improves the quality of\nservices for Indonesian hajj pilgrims but also opens up opportunities\nfor economic empowerment among national businesses.<\/p>\n
