Surabaya \u2013 East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa held a Quran\ncompletion ceremony (khotmil Quran) for Ramadhan 1447 Hijriah on Friday\nevening (13 March) at Grahadi State Building in Surabaya, bringing\ntogether regional officials and the Sobat Dili (Deaf Disabilities\nRecitation) community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Quran completion activity involving regional office heads is\nheld regularly each Ramadhan. Let us together improve the quality of our\nspiritual life during this holy month,\u201d Khofifah said.<\/p>\n
The Quran completion ceremony was conducted through alternate\nrecitation of Quranic verses beginning from the 30th chapter (Juz 30) by\nregional officials from the East Java provincial government. The\nrecitation began with the Acting General Administration Assistant,\nfollowed by Khofifah, a representative of the East Java Branch\nLeadership of the Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama women\u2019s organisation, and the\nSobat Dili community reciting together.<\/p>\n
The event served as an opportunity to strengthen spiritual values\nwhilst affirming the East Java provincial government\u2019s commitment to\nbuilding inclusive religious spaces for all sectors of society. Khofifah\nemphasised that joint spiritual activities not only strengthen working\nrelationships between regional agencies but also remind people of the\nimportance of making the Quran a guide for life.<\/p>\n
During the event, Khofifah distributed dates to members of the Sobat\nDili community as fast-breaking refreshments. She also presented Qurans\nendowed by Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to several regional officials\nand managing directors of regional state enterprises who contributed to\ndistributing social assistance and Ramadhan charitable activities across\nvarious districts and cities in East Java.<\/p>\n
Maskurun (Yuyun), chairperson of the Movement for the Welfare of Deaf\nIndonesians East Java and founder of Sobat Tuli Quran House, expressed\ngratitude for the opportunity to participate in the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, this event is truly extraordinary. This is the first\ntime my friends and I have recited the Quran at Grahadi. Thank you to\nMrs Khofifah for giving us the opportunity, we deaf friends,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Yuyun expressed hope that activities involving disabled communities\nin religious events such as this would continue to be held as a\ndemonstration of commitment to inclusivity within society.<\/p>\n
