        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Prominent preacher and owner of the Hajj travel\nbureau PT Zahra Oto Mandiri, or Uhud Tour, Khalid Zeed Abdullah\nBasalamah has reminded the public that he was examined by the Corruption\nEradication Commission (KPK) as a witness, not a suspect, in the alleged\ncorruption case involving the Hajj quota.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a witness, not a suspect,\u201d Khalid stated after being questioned\nby the KPK as a witness in the Hajj quota case at the KPK\u2019s Red and\nWhite Building in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Travel\nAssociation (Mutiara Haji) explained that he is not the only one\nsummoned and examined by the KPK in the investigation of the Hajj quota\ncase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll association chairmen have been invited. Yesterday, today, and\npossibly in the coming days. So, they are just asking for statements as\nwitnesses, nothing more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that the one returning the money related to the Hajj\nquota case is not just him alone.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he explained that he decided to comply with the KPK\u2019s\nsummons because he is a good citizen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I was summoned as a witness and as a good citizen, we respond,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK initiated an investigation into\nthe alleged corruption case of Indonesia\u2019s 2023-2024 Hajj quota.<\/p>\n<p>On 9 January 2026, the KPK named former Minister of Religious Affairs\nYaqut Cholil Qoumas and Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex as\nsuspects.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK then received the results of an audit by the Financial Audit\nBoard (BPK) of Indonesia on 27 February 2026, which stated that the\nstate financial loss in the case amounted to Rp622 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, on 12 March 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK\u2019s\nRed and White Building Branch State Detention House, followed by the\ndetention of Ishfah on 17 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK temporarily changed Yaqut\u2019s detention status to house arrest\non 19 March 2026 at the family\u2019s request, but re-detained him at the KPK\nDetention House on 24 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>On 30 March 2026, the KPK named two new suspects, namely Operational\nDirector of Maktour Ismail Adham and General Chairman of the Indonesian\nHajj and Umrah Travel Unity (Kesthuri) Asrul Aziz Taba.<\/p>",
