        "content": "<p>Key suspects in Bali bombing case<\/p>\n<p>The trial of Amrozi, the first suspect arrested over the <br>\ndevastating Bali bombings last October which killed more than 200 <br>\npeople, begins on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Police have arrested or identified more than 30 suspects in <br>\nconnection with the bombings, which killed mostly foreign <br>\ntourists. Following are the main suspects. <br>\n* Amrozi. The first suspect named by police, the Javanese <br>\nmechanic who joked and giggled during police questioning before <br>\ndozens of journalists. He is believed to have provided a mini-van <br>\nused as a car bomb. Status: In detention and set to go on trial <br>\non Monday. <br>\n* Imam Samudra alias Fatih, Fat, Kudama, Abdul Aziz, Abu Umar and <br>\nHeri. Believed to be the main plotter. Samudra was captured in <br>\nthe western Java province of Banten on November 21, 2002. He is <br>\nalso a suspect in a string of other bombings. Status: In <br>\ndetention in Bali. <br>\n* Mukhlas alias Ali Gufron. Police believe Mukhlas replaced <br>\nHambali (see below) as operations leader of militant group Jamaah <br>\nIslamiah. Police arrested Mukhlas in Central Java in Klaten town <br>\nin December. Mukhlas is the elder brother of Amrozi and was a <br>\ncleric at Al-Arqam Muslim school in Malaysia. Status: In <br>\ndetention in Bali. <br>\n* Ali Imron alias Alik. Police say Imron helped assemble the <br>\nbombs and learned his bomb-making skills in the Mujahideen <br>\nstruggle against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Imron, Amrozi&apos;s <br>\nyounger brother, is believed to have driven the minibus carrying <br>\nthe bomb to within 400 metres of the blast site. Status: In <br>\ndetention in Bali. <br>\n* Hambali alias Riduan Isamuddin. Hambali is the most wanted man <br>\nin the case. Police say the Indonesian preacher, believed to be a <br>\nkey leader of Jamaah Islamiah, funded the Bali attacks. He is <br>\nalso suspected of involvement in several bombings across <br>\nSoutheast Asia. Status: Fugitive <br>\n* Dr. Azahari. Police say Azahari, a Malaysian, is an electronics <br>\nexpert and designed and supervised the making of the massive car-<br>\nbomb parked in front of the Sari night club.
