The TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) has detained four TNI\npersonnel suspected of involvement in the acid attack on KontraS\nactivist Andrie Yunus.<\/p>\n

TNI Deputy Chief of Military Police, Major General Yusri Nuryanto,\nstated that the four suspected perpetrators have been arrested for\nfurther investigation.<\/p>\n

Here are the key points of the TNI\u2019s statement regarding the arrest\nof the four soldiers.<\/p>\n

Suspected perpetrators from Denma BAIS TNI<\/p>\n

During a press conference on Wednesday (18\/3), Yusri stated that the\nfour soldiers are from the Detachment Headquarters of the TNI Strategic\nIntelligence Agency (Denma BAIS).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe state that all four suspected perpetrators are members of Denma\nBAIS TNI,\u201d Yusri said during the press conference at TNI Headquarters in\nCilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (18\/3).<\/p>\n

The four are said to be from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU)\nbranches. They are initialled NDP, SL, BHW, and ES.<\/p>\n

Ranks from sergeant to captain<\/p>\n

According to Yusri\u2019s statement, the four soldiers hold ranks from\nsecond sergeant (serda) to captain.<\/p>\n

The soldier initialled NDP holds the rank of Captain. Then, the\nsoldiers initialled SL and BHW hold the rank of first lieutenant\n(Lettu), and the soldier initialled ES holds the rank of Second Sergeant\n(Serda).<\/p>\n

Detained at Pomdam Jaya<\/p>\n

Yusri stated that the four TNI personnel will subsequently be\ndetained at the Jakarta Regional Military Police (Pomdam Jaya).<\/p>\n

\u201cRegarding the detention location, we will carry out the detention\nentrusted to Pomdam Jaya. There is maximum super security detention\nthere, and we will entrust them there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Charged with assault article<\/p>\n

Yusri explained that the soldiers are currently charged under Article\n467 of the new Criminal Code regarding premeditated assault. The penalty\nis imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor now, we are applying Article 467 of Law No.\u00a01 of 2023. There is\nparagraph 1, paragraph 2, where the penalty threats are already stated\nthere. There is 4 years, there is 7 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The full text of Article 467 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the new Criminal\nCode is as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. Any person who commits assault with prior planning shall be\npunished with imprisonment for a maximum of 4 (four) years.<\/p><\/li>\n

  2. If the act as referred to in paragraph (1) results in serious\ninjury, the perpetrator shall be punished with imprisonment for a\nmaximum of 7 (seven) years.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This charge contradicts the stance of civil coalitions including\nKontraS. Civil coalitions assess the acid attack terror against Andrie\nYunus as attempted premeditated murder.<\/p>\n

    Roles of the suspected perpetrators<\/p>\n

    Yusri revealed the roles of the four soldiers. He explained that two\nsoldiers are suspected of acting as executors, while the other two are\nstill under investigation.<\/p>\n

    \u201cFrom the CCTV results, there are two people who did it. Now, where\nthe other two were and what their roles were, we are still\ninvestigating,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

    Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack by unknown persons\non Thursday (12\/3) night.<\/p>\n

    The attack resulted in injuries to Andrie\u2019s hands and legs as well as\nvision impairment. Medical examination results state that Andrie\nsuffered 24 percent burns.<\/p>\n

    President Prabowo Subianto has ordered National Police Chief General\nListyo Sigit Prabowo to thoroughly investigate this case.<\/p>\n

    On Wednesday (18\/3), police stated that the acid attackers against\nAndrie are suspected to number more than four people. Two of them were\nidentified with initials BHC and MAK.<\/p>\n
