Kerry Riza, the beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak and a defendant in a corruption case involving Pertamina's oil management, has lodged a complaint with DPR Commission III through his legal representative, alleging multiple violations in his trial process. He seeks a public disclosure of the case, similar to that of Amsal Sitepu, highlighting discrepancies between the Attorney General's initial claims of massive state losses from fuel mixing and the actual prosecution focused on valid business contracts. Currently appealing a 15-year prison sentence, a Rp 1 billion fine, and a Rp 2.9 trillion restitution order, Riza's move underscores concerns over judicial fairness in high-profile corruption proceedings.

Jakarta – The beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak (OTM),
Kerry Adrianto Riza, through his legal representative, submitted a
complaint letter to DPR Commission III on Thursday, 2 April. The
complaint pertains to the trial process of the alleged corruption case
involving the management of oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina,
in which Kerry Riza is a defendant.

Didi Supriyanto, Kerry Riza’s legal representative, explained that
the complaint was submitted to Commission III because they observed
numerous violations in the trial process of the alleged corruption case
concerning oil management. Riza’s side requests that the matter be
opened to the public.

“So today we drafted and submitted a complaint letter to Commission
III regarding the trial process of Mr Kerry and his associates, which we
believe involved many violations, and we also request an RDPU with
Commission III so that this issue can be opened to the public,” Didi
told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

In the letter received by the Chairman of Commission III DPR,
Habiburokhman, via the Commission III Secretariat team, Riza’s side
detailed various notes on the handling of the alleged corruption case in
oil management. Among them is the narrative of fuel mixing causing state
losses of up to Rp 1,000 trillion, which was proclaimed by the Attorney
General’s Office (Kejagung) at the beginning of the investigation.

That narrative shocked Indonesian society as consumers. However, the
narrative did not appear in the indictment read by the public
prosecutor. Instead, the prosecutor questioned business contracts that
were actually legitimate.

“It turns out that after following the course of this case up to the
trial, there was never any story about the mixing case; Kerry and his
associates are being questioned over business contracts that were
actually legitimate but are now deemed problematic by the prosecution,
and in the end, Kerry was sentenced along with his associates, and the
sentence is heavy,” said Didi.

Kerry Riza was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp 1
billion by the Jakarta Corruption Court. In addition, Kerry Riza was
ordered to pay restitution for state losses amounting to Rp 2.9
trillion, which is the value of the Pertamina and OTM contract over 10
years. Currently, Kerry Riza and the other defendants are appealing to
the Jakarta High Court.
",
