        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) member\nHardiyanto Kenneth has stressed that children with disabilities have the\nsame rights as other children to grow, learn, and achieve their dreams,\nwhilst urging all elements of society to help make Jakarta more\ninclusive. \u201cChildren with disabilities did not ask to be born with\nlimitations,\u201d Kenneth said during a recess meeting in Jakarta on Sunday.\nHe stated that they simply need equal opportunities, an accepting\nenvironment, and support to develop according to their potential. He\ncalled on all elements of society to work together to build a more\ninclusive Jakarta. He believes that a developed city is not merely about\ntall buildings or grand infrastructure. According to him, a truly\ndeveloped city is one that can protect and provide equal opportunities\nto all its citizens. \u201cIncluding our brothers and sisters with\ndisabilities,\u201d he said. He added that children with disabilities are not\na burden. They are part of the nation\u2019s future and possess extraordinary\npotential if given the opportunity, guidance, and affection. \u201cIt is our\ncollective responsibility to ensure they grow up with hope, not\nlimitations,\u201d he said. Previously, Kenneth inspected the construction of\na water channel on Jalan Asia Baru, Kepa Listrik, RT 06 RW 04, Duri Kepa\nUrban Village, Kebon Jeruk District, West Jakarta. The visit was a\nfollow-up to residents\u2019 aspirations conveyed during the First Recess of\nthe 2025-2026 Session. He stated that the construction of the water\nchannel is expected to reduce flooding and improve the quality of the\nresidential environment. \u201cFor me, every aspiration of the people is a\nmandate that must be fought for until the benefits are truly felt. That\nis why I want to ensure the development proceeds according to the\nresidents\u2019 expectations,\u201d he said. During the visit, a resident named\nHandoyo approached him and shared his family\u2019s situation. His wife is\nill, while their child is a person with a disability who requires\nassistive devices and support to carry out daily activities. Upon\nhearing the complaint, the Commission C councillor immediately visited\nthe family\u2019s home and committed to assisting them through proper\ngovernment channels. \u201cI am pleased because we can directly understand\nthe residents\u2019 needs. We will facilitate the processing of a disability\ncard, help provide a walking stick for exercise and sunbathing, and look\ninto other needs that we can fight for,\u201d he said. He noted that the duty\nof a people\u2019s representative does not stop at overseeing physical\ndevelopment but also requires being present when the community needs\nhelp. \u201cIf there are residents facing difficulties, especially children\nwith disabilities, the government must be present. They should not feel\nalone. We must ensure their rights are fulfilled and they receive proper\nservices,\u201d he said, adding that the assistance provided is intended to\nease the family\u2019s burden and serve as a reminder that every citizen is\nentitled to attention and services without discrimination.<\/p>",
