The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has\ncommitted to strengthening digital sovereignty by ensuring three\nnational priority agendas run optimally, in line with the theme of the\n81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, \u2018Indonesia Berdaulat,\nAdil, dan Makmur\u2019 (Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia).<\/p>\n
Secretary General of Kemkomdigi Ismail stated in Jakarta on Monday\nthat this commitment must be emphasised because, in the era of\ndigitalisation, national sovereignty is largely determined by the\nability to control and safeguard the digital space, no longer limited to\nphysical territorial boundaries.<\/p>\n
\u2018Sovereignty today is determined by the nation\u2019s ability to master\nits infrastructure, protect its data, develop its technology, safeguard\nits information space, and ensure that society benefits from the digital\ntransformation process,\u2019 Ismail said.<\/p>\n
The three agendas are being implemented following directives from\nPresident Prabowo Subianto. Although they may appear disconnected, they\nshare one crucial objective: safeguarding national sovereignty both in\nthe present and for future generations.<\/p>\n
\u2018The three may appear to be different programmes, but they share a\ncommon thread: sovereignty. Sovereignty means the state does not allow\nits digital space to be used to harm the lives of its people,\u2019 Ismail\nsaid.<\/p>\n
On the development of the National Data Centre (PDN), Kemkomdigi\ncontinues to strengthen collaboration with other ministries and agencies\nfor data centre utilisation. Beyond utilisation, the collaboration also\ncreates cross-ministerial and agency data integration to deliver\ndigitalised public services and make it easier for citizens to receive\ntheir entitlements.<\/p>\n
One example of successful data integration can be seen in the\ndigitalisation programme for Social Protection (Perlinsos), facilitated\nthrough the Government Service Linkage System (SPLP) developed by\nKemkomdigi. One manifestation of its use is the integration of the\nDigital Social Protection Portal, which accelerates verification of\nsocial assistance recipient data to ensure it is well-targeted and\nequitable.<\/p>\n
The success of the Perlinsos digitalisation trial period was\nhighlighted by President Prabowo, as it managed to register three\nmillion families in the system within a short time. At the time of\nnational implementation, the expectation is that 49 million families\nwill be registered in the system.<\/p>\n
Enforcement has been strengthened through the cutting off of fund\nflows in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank\nIndonesia, and law enforcement agencies (POLRI), which have closed\napproximately 32,500 bank accounts affiliated with online gambling.<\/p>\n
The final agenda, no less important and concerning the protection of\nthe nation\u2019s future generations, is the strict implementation of the\nChild Protection Regulation (PP Tunas) to provide a safe, comfortable,\nand healthy digital space for children.<\/p>\n
As of July 2026, various digital platforms operating in Indonesia\nhave deactivated approximately 4.7 million child accounts to create a\nsafe space for children\u2019s growth and development in the virtual realm.\nAdditionally, more than 204 platforms have submitted self-assessment\nrisk profiles to the government.<\/p>\n
\u2018Our goal is not merely to close accounts, but to change the\necosystem. We want digital platforms to take responsibility for the\nspaces they build, because Indonesian children have the right to grow\nwith technology without losing a safe childhood,\u2019 Ismail said.<\/p>\n
He affirmed that all these strategic measures align with the\nKemkomdigi Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2025\u20132029 through the pillars of\nConnected, Growing, and Protected.<\/p>\n
