Kemayoran Sub-district, Central Jakarta, is making the Climate\nVillage Programme (Proklim) a collective movement to build a culture of\nenvironmental awareness and strengthen community resilience to climate\nchange.<\/p>\n
\u201cProklim is not merely an effort to obtain awards, but a collective\nmovement to build a culture of environmental awareness and strengthen\ncommunity resilience to climate change,\u201d said Bayu Randy Wiradian, Head\nof the Economy and Development Section of Kemayoran Sub-district, in\nJakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He said Proklim is not only oriented towards assessment and awards,\nbut needs to be implemented sustainably by the community.<\/p>\n
Bayu expressed hope that the community and all stakeholders would\nmaintain the spirit of mutual cooperation and continue to create\ninnovations in environmental management.<\/p>\n
He added that the field verification visit by the Jakarta\nEnvironmental Agency also provided an opportunity for residents to\nreceive input to improve various environmental activities in their\narea.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope all stakeholders continue to maintain the spirit of mutual\ncooperation, carry out innovations, and make Proklim a community\nculture, not just an activity carried out when verification takes\nplace,\u201d said Bayu.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe residents\u2019 spirit is very cohesive, which is already a plus\npoint. There have also been many actions, ranging from adaptation and\nmitigation actions, and women cadres have also developed organic waste\nmanagement, from composters to eco-enzymes. This entire series is\nrunning very well,\u201d said Suci.<\/p>\n
According to her, the activities of environmental cadres have also\nbeen carried out together with the sub-district apparatus.<\/p>\n
Suci said this needs to be maintained through the development of\nactivities and consistency in their implementation.<\/p>\n
For this reason, she hopes that residents\u2019 awareness of the impacts\nof climate change in Jakarta will continue to increase so that more\npeople become involved in Proklim activities.<\/p>\n
