The importance of being devout and afraid of God is deeply
\nrooted in the Indonesian people. For example, when a person is
\nappointed as a government official he or she must be a devout
\nreligious follower. Our education system also aims to produce
\npeople of integrity, having faith and devoutness.<\/p>\n
During Friday prayers the preacher advises Moslems to always
\nbe devout to their religion. Being devout can be interpreted as
\nfollowing God's orders and avoiding His prohibitions. But this is
\neasier said than done.<\/p>\n
We often read or hear about corruption, collusion, conspiracy
\nand people doing unlawful things. What a shame! Crime is also
\nrampant. A group of criminals tries to deceive people by lying.
\nWhether these bandits can change to become people of faith
\ndepends on their consciousness of what is likely to be punishment
\nin the hereafter.<\/p>\n
If we make promises, we should keep them. This also goes for
\ncampaigners who offered their programs and promised many things
\nduring the recent campaign. They should know that people will
\nalways remember what they have promised. If they keep their
\npromises they will be blessed, but if they betray the people they
\nwill have to face the punishment hereafter.<\/p>\n
