Keep calm and maintain unity<\/p>\n
From Rakyat Merdeka<\/p>\n
With regard to the bombing of the Catholic church in Duren
\nSawit and the Batak Protestant church in Jatiwaringin on July 22,
\n2001 perpetrated by irresponsible persons, we, the executive
\nboard of the Community of Indonesian Christians are deeply
\nconcerned and saddened by the fact that the two bomb blasts have
\nclaimed a number of innocent victims.<\/p>\n
In this context, we would like to condemn all forms of
\nviolence and anarchy which harm the unity and integrity of the
\nnation. Furthermore, we call on the government and security
\nforces to take firm measures against the culprits and make every
\neffort to prevent recurrence of such cases.<\/p>\n
We also would like to call on all members of the Community of
\nIndonesian Christians to remain calm, avoid being provoked and to
\nintensify their vigilance and unity. More importantly Christians
\nshould maintain friendly cooperation, communication and
\nrelationship with people of other religions in their respective
\nneighborhoods.<\/p>\n
