Students at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 2 in Kediri, East Java, are\nbeing taught character building during their school orientation period\n(MPLS).<\/p>\n
Head of the school, Nur Zam\u2019ah, stated on Thursday that the pupils\nwere very enthusiastic about participating in the MPLS, including\nprimary school students who demonstrated discipline throughout the\nseries of activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe MPLS aims to introduce the school environment to students, from\nhabits, rules, and school culture to life in the dormitory. The hope is\nthat the children can adapt well so they are ready to follow the\nlearning process,\u201d she said in Kediri.<\/p>\n
She expressed hope that the education provided would make them more\neager to learn and that they would understand and follow the school\nrules properly.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe children are very enthusiastic. I hope they are always healthy\nand happy, and able to understand and carry out the school and dormitory\nrules well. We hope their positive character begins to form from this\nMPLS period onwards into their daily lives,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
One tenth-grade student from Tosaren Urban Village, Kediri, Vinky\nSyawalia Putri, admitted she initially felt nervous when she first\narrived at the school because she was worried about not having new\nfriends. However, that worry gradually disappeared after participating\nin various activities during the MPLS.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt first I was afraid I wouldn\u2019t have friends. But after joining the\nactivities, it turned out my friends were friendly and kind, like\nfamily. So I am very happy to be able to study at Sekolah Rakyat,\u201d said\nVinky.<\/p>\n
According to her, the family atmosphere began to be felt since the\npre-MPLS activities, which included communal meals, a school tour, a\ndormitory tour, and congregational prayers. She also admitted to feeling\ncomfortable living in the dormitory because of the assistance from\nteachers and caregivers.<\/p>\n
Vinky, who aspires to be a novelist, hopes the opportunity to study\nat Sekolah Rakyat can help her achieve her dreams while improving her\nfamily\u2019s welfare.<\/p>\n
Head of the Kediri City Social Service, Imam Muttakin, said the local\ngovernment continues to provide assistance and monitoring so that the\noperations of Sekolah Rakyat, including the implementation of the MPLS,\nrun well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe monitoring and evaluation results show that the MPLS\nimplementation is going well. Several student needs, such as equipment\nand uniforms, are currently still in the process of being distributed in\nstages. The government continues to facilitate various needs so that the\nimplementation of Sekolah Rakyat can run optimally,\u201d said Imam.<\/p>\n
He also urged all students to follow every series of the MPLS\nseriously as preparation before entering teaching and learning\nactivities at Sekolah Rakyat.<\/p>\n
