        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The enthusiasm of East Timorese residents for\nlearning Indonesian is reflected in the participation of 1,500 attendees\nin this year\u2019s Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA)\nprogramme, organised by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Dili.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at KBRI Dili, Nugroho Yuwono Aribhimo,\nstated that the BIPA programme plays a strategic role as a medium for\nlanguage diplomacy and strengthening friendship between the two\ncountries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe enthusiasm of East Timor\u2019s younger generation is a key asset in\nbolstering educational and cultural cooperation between the two\nnations,\u201d Nugroho said while opening BIPA 2026 at the Indonesian\nCultural Centre in Dili on Monday (20\/4).<\/p>\n<p>According to a written statement from KBRI Dili, participants in the\nprogramme come from various backgrounds, including students and\nrepresentatives from local institutions.<\/p>\n<p>They are spread across 10 districts, with the main learning\nactivities centred in Dili. A total of 250 participants are attending\nin-person classes at the Indonesian Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is supported by 18 dedicated BIPA instructors.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, the Education and Culture Attach\u00e9 at KBRI Dili,\nTasrifin Tahara, said that the BIPA programme accommodates the cultural\nand emotional closeness between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the high interest among East Timor\u2019s younger generation\nin continuing their education in Indonesia further drives the need to\nlearn the Indonesian language.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Head of the Language Development and Cultivation\nAgency, Hafidz Muksin, described BIPA as a priority government programme\nin strengthening the Indonesian language and culture at the\ninternational level.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the programme needs to be continuously developed\nwith support from various parties.<\/p>\n<p>KBRI Dili hopes that the BIPA 2026 programme will further strengthen\neducational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is also expected to encourage more East Timorese\nstudents to continue their studies in Indonesia.<\/p>",
