        "content": "<p>The Class II-A Women\u2019s Penitentiary in Kerobokan, Badung Regency,\nBali, held a salon training session on makeup and Balinese hairstyling,\nas well as a crafts exhibition, as a form of fostering self-reliance to\ncommemorate Kartini Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time they receive training, they get a certificate as proof\nthat they have acquired skills training,\u201d said the Head of the Class\nII-A Women\u2019s Penitentiary, Ni Luh Putu Andiyani, during the Kartini Day\ncommemoration in Kerobokan, Badung Regency, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The facility brought in salon practitioners to provide training on\nBalinese hairstyling and traditional makeup.<\/p>\n<p>Wearing kebaya, shawls, and kain kemben, 20 representatives of the\nprison inmates (WBP) participated in the makeup and hairstyling\ntraining.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsually, I\u2019m used to natural makeup for everyday, but this is\nBalinese hairstyling training for a different purpose, so it\u2019s a bit\ndifferent because it\u2019s my first time and quite difficult,\u201d said inmate\nKasarin Khamkhao from Thailand, who has been serving a seven-year\nsentence out of a total 16-year conviction for a drug case.<\/p>\n<p>They took turns applying makeup and styling each other\u2019s hair for a\nsubsequent fashion show.<\/p>\n<p>Like models, they strutted in the hall carrying craft products such\nas bags, knitted scarves, hand fans, and light snacks like pie susu\ncakes.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, 80 inmate representatives also received literacy in\nthe form of spiritual counselling and political education.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to salon training, empowerment provided to female inmates\nincludes making tempeh crisps, hand fans, cakes, nail care, up to\nchicken farming, catfish ponds, and gardening melons and grapes.<\/p>\n<p>The Class II-A Women\u2019s Penitentiary in Kerobokan houses 258 inmates\nfrom 12 countries worldwide, exceeding its intended capacity of 120\npeople.<\/p>",
